In a power station or substation battery banks are installed for the critical DC loads. Capacity of the battery is decided according to load requirement. Generally these critical DC loads are met by the connected float charger. Actual requirement of battery comes rare but situation may come any time. Capacity of the battery must be evaluated once in a year as per IEEE-450. Yearly discharge testing will keep the user alert about capability of the battery.
Discharge testing must be accurate.
